# English Whisky : nouvelle indication géographique à venir ?

Seize producteurs de whisky anglais se sont réunis sous le nom de **The English Whisky Guild** (**EWG**). Ils ont ainsi lancé le 14 février dernier des démarches afin de créer une nouvelle indication géographique (IG), à l’instar du *Scotch Whisky*. Parmi les critères de définition proposés :

- Utiliser des matières premières de Grande-Bretagne
- Etre vieilli dans des fûts en bois
- Etre distillé deux fois, dans un alambic en cuivre

Pour l’heure, tout ça n’a pas l’air très innovant ou différenciant… A suivre.
